Cities II: emerging from the void

Series of sculptures

Steel and iron

Year 2025

Maximum series dimensions: 40 x 40 x 11 cm

The void is far more than an absence: it is a space brimming with potential. This project exploresthe urban void as both a physical and emotional phenomenon. Inspired by Simone Weil, who argued that “absence allows for the entry of grace,” these sculptures here represent the interstitial spaces that connect the past the and future, allowing new realities to emerge.

The use of the void as a central element engages with Heidegger's philosophy: “The void is not nothing but ratherthe place where something may emerge.” These pieces highlight how urban spaces, which are often alienating, simultaneously offer the opportunity to reconnect with our roots and project renewed futures.
