Tangible infinite collage II

Video and Digital Collage

Year 2025

This project stems from a personal archive of analog and digital photographs taken in various deserts over the years. From these images, I explore the idea of infinity from an intimate perspective: an infinity that is neither abstract nor cosmic, but profoundly human. For me, the desert has always held a latent danger. I have felt fear there—real, physical, direct fear. I have also been afraid of the desert that emerges from within myself, a desert inside me. Both become infinite. In both, there appears that feeling of not controlling destiny, of knowing that something can happen at any moment, of facing a space that can absorb everything. I thus shift the classical notion of the unlimited toward the human experience: nothingness unsettles, nothingness disturbs, nothingness places us before the uncertainty of survival. The desert conveys that state of timeless emptiness in which we don't know when it ends, if it ends, or if we are suspended in a limitless present knowing that there is nothing more reassuring than limits, contours, glimpsing the end, at least for me.
