Traces are imprints of memory, marks that reveal both presence and absence. They are heavy, solid, rounded, clear, and forceful. This project focuses on how materials such as iron encapsulate the memory of civilizations. The sculptures work with voids and geometries to emphasize the impact of time and human interactions.
As in my other works, this project highlights simplicity, forcefulness, and the remnants—the traces left behind. As Benjamin notes, cities are “inhabited ruins,” and in Heidegger’s words, “traces are signs of a being that was and still is.” These pieces invite the viewer to explore their relationship with time and space.
