Cities I: repetition and memory
Series of sculptures

Year 2024
Maximum series dimensions: 24 x 34 x 22 cm
In previous works, I have explored cities as depositories of history; they are witnesses to the passage of time and the constant repetition of social patterns. This project draws inspiration from Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino and the theories of Walter Benjamin, who wrote that “memory is the fabric of experience.” The sculptures aim to capture how cities encapsulate both human fears and desires, reflecting the tensions between permanence and transience.
In contemporary cities, where density and chaos prevail, these pieces emphasize the importance of finding empty spaces. Walter Benjamin describes cities as stages of collective memory and contradictions, concepts these sculptures explore by integrating fragmented geometries and voids that invite contemplation.
